Training Notes 9.10.06

2 Miles 30 minutes

Fall is the best time to be outside. Today was no exception. Today was a mixture of running and walking. I'm very slow as seen by how long it takes me to cover 2 miles, but at least I've moved the distance. I move slowly to survive the depths. My plan right now is to take the running thing very casually. I run went I feel like it and walk when I don't. Right now the important thing is to cover the distance and the distance right now is 2 miles. Down some more pounds... go me.

See ya, bye!

Training Note 9.9.06

2 Miles 32 min 55 seconds. (Neighborhood)

Beautiful night to be outside. It is amazing how the world works... yep it is September, time to chill down at night. I love the pretty sunny days in the upper 70's with nights dipping into the 50s. I ran a bit tonight but it was mostly walking. Tomorrow night I'm actually going to put on the Asics. The plan is to run when I feel like it as long as a cover 2 miles. I'm going to do that for a couple of weeks and then get serious about covering the right amount of distance. My first goal is 5 good miles for lightfest in November. I've been eating well since Tuesday and even the scale has noticed. I'm down about 7 pounds. I took a health assessment today and it suggested I loose 59 pounds. That sounds about right and it will be necessary if I'm actually going to go the distance in Indianapolis even if that is not until May of 2007.

See ya, bye!

Tennis is Over

My rookie season as a tennis player is offically over. A beginner at 36. I had a great time and met a lot of new interesting people all of which are much better tennis players than me. I'm guessing we could play another month. The weather here is usually decent until Oct 1, but I guess I'll just wait until next May. I'll have to start all over again. Hopefully by next May I'll be in much better shape. I should be if I'm going to have any hope of running in the mini marathon on the 5th of May. Good bye tennis league... see you next spring.

Training note 9.6.06

8:50 pm 2 mile walk around the neighborhood in 34 min and 15 sec. So far from a half marathon. But as the crappy cliche goes, "A journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step." I've got a bit of a cold tonight too, but Airborn is the way to go. Beautiful full moon tonight.

Registration Complete

I just registered for the 2007 Indianapolis 500 Mini-Marathon. I'm completely out of shape and have a lot of miles to cover before the race (May 5) but now I'm committed. Nothing left but the training. Many many base miles. I have sent an invitation to a few friends hoping they will join me in my quest... but I don't need company.
